Venezuela Update – 26th of August, 2021

Rorshok's weekly ten-minute update of stuff happening in Venezuela. Sports have uplifted the Venezuelan spirit this week: First, Miguel “Miggy” Cabrera launched his 500th home run this week, becoming the first Venezuelan Major League Baseball player to reach the historic milestone. BMX sweetheart Daniel Dhers led an exhibit ride through Caracas. Twenty-six Venezuelans will compete in seven categories including: shot put, swimming, judo, powerlifting, cycling and tennis at the Paralympic Games, becoming the third largest contingent the country has sent. The highest ice rink in the world, located at 2100 meters, almost 6900 feet, above sea level in the Hotel Humboldt Caracas, was reopened on the 20th of August after years of refurbishment.
